Description
The EPE BS series safety blocks are available in NG10, NG20, NG25, and NG32 sizes. These safety blocks include all the functions necessary to protect, isolate, and discharge a hydraulic accumulator. The shut-off valve rotates 90 degrees, allowing immediate isolation of the accumulator from the hydraulic system in case of emergency or maintenance. The accumulator can be discharged into a tank via a discharge valve, which may be manual or electric.
In BS10 and BS20 versions, when the ball valve is switched, pump flow is interrupted and the accumulator is simultaneously discharged into the tank. System safety is guaranteed by a pressure-relief valve certified according to CE/PED. The BS safety blocks enable quick and safe connection of the accumulator to the hydraulic system. Suitable for all types of bladder, piston, and diaphragm accumulators, the compact multifunctional design saves space and reduces piping. BS safety blocks maximize productivity and profit by reducing installation and maintenance time, minimizing system downtime.
All BS safety blocks are equipped with a pressure gauge port for continuous monitoring. The European Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC) requires that each accumulator be equipped with a safety device capable of intercepting, limiting, and discharging pressure, as well as enabling measurements. The BS series fulfills all these requirements in a single compact unit.
Pressure Relief Valve
The function of the pressure relief valve is to protect the accumulator during operation. If the pressure exceeds the valve setting, it opens and allows the fluid to flow into the tank, bringing the system pressure back to a safe level. The cartridge-type pressure relief valve can be recalibrated to a different pressure, which requires new PED 97/23 EC certification. The discharge pressure in bar is indicated on the nameplate. The pressure relief valve is checked and securely sealed in accordance with pressure vessel regulations. It bears the CE mark, the approval ID, and the serial number.
All valves are delivered with a certificate verifying the calibration pressure. The documents supplied with the pressure relief valve must be retained, as they may be required for test repetitions.
Manual and Electric Discharge Valve
The discharge valve enables the fluid in the accumulator to be drained into the tank. All BS safety block models include a manually operated valve. In addition to the manual valve, an electrically controlled discharge valve can be installed upon request.
